it seems we've had a series of longest days. grateful that most of them have been full to the brim with special goodness. and goodness isn't any less exhausting, you know. in fact, elijah's just passed out for a nap. in the middle of making a tent in the living room. that's tired.
perhaps he knows what i too soon forget. it's sunday. one that we count out for the doing of nothing but nothing. resting, worshiping, just being, taking in the blessings and hard bits of the week behind us.
i trust you'll soak up your last bit of sunday. breath deep and praise the god who gave you the gift of quiet, even if only in your spirit. because even if your sunday includes the bustle of rowdy fellowship, games, and laughs, or weeping alongside a grieving friend or a weary spouse. whatever your day has brought you, i pray you find rest in him.
come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and i will give you rest. take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for i am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. matthew 11:28-30
