bright spots

in the midst of the difficult bits, we've had many sweet joys:

love this boy and his fake mustache (thanks, steph!) he loved having this stuck on! he even wore one on his arm for awhile.

grocery shopping is reserved for when i'm alone, or when patrick can take elijah separately through the store. we had zero fresh food in the house and needed to go. just me and elijah. praise the lord! it was a wonderful time in the market together! he asked to ride in the obnoxious car cart, and i said yes if he stayed inside of it. typically he unbuckles and runs off asap. my sweet boy rode in that thing and was happy as a clam with only a few "stay put" reminders the whole shopping trip. until we were done and loaded the car to go home. and that's all of that story i care to share :)

picked this up at target. a small variation from our usual bead stringing and a huge hit. therapy at home! elijah enjoys this happily and focused for thirty minutes. m i r a c l e.

usually it's stressful for me to take a restroom break. tmi? because no matter how quick i am, my little master of mischief is quicker. the other day it was super quiet and i was nervous. imagine my delight when i found him like this! sitting like an angel, playing with light and eating gummi bears. don't worry, i took the candy away  before he ate them all :)

this book. always always good to read.

"but this i call to mind, and therefore i have hope: the steadfast love of the lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "the lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore i will hope in him." the lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him." lamentations 3:21-25

  2. Love the stache! Then when I saw the car I thought it was going to go all seventies American Cop show! When I saw the gummy bear jar, I thought that guy must have some serious self control. If I had that jar it would NOT be that full. And I hear you on the restroom breaks. I'm a childminder with no cover for these "issues". Can't just go when you want to and when you do, you had better have a very engaging activity prepared for them or you take your chances.

  3. oh sweet boy. little graces along the way each day. God is good. my kids stand on top of the kitchen counter on my potty breaks. but you already know that. any success at the grocery store is God's gift to mothers. PTL.

  8. Thank you for sharing what you do. We are very alike in many ways:) My little ASD angel is about a year younger than yours. I do enjoy your posts because it is so, so comforting to read and know I'm not the only one. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does groceries alone...and is scared to take him from time to time. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who constantly is planning one step ahead so that he has no chance to run off.
    Thank you
