will you this moment his grace receive?

elijah finished up the school year and is now enjoying the summer program. they have lots of music therapy scheduled, which i know he's excited about. he's looking so grown up lately. time is passing so quickly. not just the school days. my whole life seems to be in fast motion.

does that qualify for a blog post? because i just don't have much else to share today :)

sometimes my heart is heavy. the lord is kind, bringing sunshine in many forms to brighten the days. it's difficult to fret, feel sad or angry, or complain when you have so much beauty right in front of your face.
when you choose to actually look at it anyway.

i need to avert my eyes and mind from gazing at problems or emotions. what does it solve anyway, continuing to dwell on a specific difficulty or hurt? not a thing. god hasn't promised to relieve our suffering on this earth, that's the hope of heaven with him. what he has guaranteed is enough grace for exactly what he's measured out.
i have a quote pinned to my calendar so i see it every ding dang day:

"no physician ever weighed out medicine to his patients with half so much care and exactness as god weighs out to us every trial. not one grain too much does he ever permit to be put in the scale." henry ward beecher

that's what i believe. he's in control of everything. minuscule detail to life changing events. i cannot sin outside of his watch and my deepest pain is in the boundaries of his care. that swells my heart with gratitude! so that's where i'll park my thoughts today, and anew every day. on his truth and never ending goodness and care for me. my problems don't shrink, but they grow mighty dim in the light of his grace.

"since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, jesus, the son of god, let us hold fast our confession. for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." hebrews 4:14-16

marvelous grace of our loving lord,
grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
yonder on calvary's mount outpoured,
there where the blood of the lamb was spilt.
grace, grace, god's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, god's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!
sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
threaten the soul with infinite loss;
grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
dark is the stain that we cannot hide.
what can avail to wash it away?
look! there is flowing a crimson tide,
brighter than snow you may be today.
marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
freely bestowed on all who believe!
you that are longing to see his face,
will you this moment his grace receive?
