giving tuesday {make it happen}

well, maybe you do know about it.
i did not. after the busy excitement of black friday and cyber monday shopping...
we have giving tuesday. that's today.

this morning i read an awesome post about christmas.
it made me think about the real reason we celebrate
and ponder how i can live that celebration out in a better way.

god gave us the very best gift.
his son born, in the humblest way to parents as regular as myself.

i absolutely love gift giving at christmas time.
it's a perfect time to give.

i want you to join me in brainstorming today.
how can we make another's christmas season merry and bright?
how can we shine the light of the greatest gift, jesus, into someone's life?

in my give christmas page, i have a few ideas you may be inspired by.
there are so many more wonderful opportunities, too!

for one, i recently learned of metro ministries.
saturday is the official kick off for
to help inner city kids have a brighter christmas this year (for just a $10 donation!).
and beginning december 1 they'll be featuring a different metro child each day
for 12 days on their facebook page and that child's inspiring story of hope.

purchase this print at fancy that design house, send it to a friend!

i hope you'll check out the few suggestions i've given, and share your own in the comments!

remember to look around locally.
i suspect each of us have areas and families in great need just around the corner.
let's pray and seek the lord how best to give this season!

give, and it will be given to you.
good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, running over,
will be put into your lap.
for with the measure you use it
will be measured back to you.

  2. Giving Tuesday is a great idea. I had never heard of it either but read an article today. I hope people still have means to give after Black Friday and Cyber Monday - maybe we should flip the order of these days and celebrate Giving Tuesday first :)

Thanks for your ideas - so far we have just given to builing wells in Rwanda. We live in the country and every time our electricity goes out our pump quits also. Makes the reality of no running water too real and turns my heart to those without.

  4. Love the giving Tuesday idea. I always get so caught up in the here and nows of what's going on in my life. I think it would be awesome to have each Tuesday circled on my calendar, a reminder to give to someone around me or a charity.
