thankful on paper {week 2}

first i wanted to let you know,
sweet kim at enough faith for today did a little interview with me.
she asked some really great questions!
you'll also learn plenty of random facts about me, like i've shared here and here.
if you enjoy that sort of thing, check it out!

now, here we are, week two of thankful on paper, hosted by rachel!
if this is news to you, it isn't too late to participate. join us!

last year for week two i wrote to my friend billy.

this week i've sent a note to my darling friend lauren.

{print from happy town usa}

when i first moved to maryland years ago, i met lauren.
she's a little younger than i, she was still in high school at the time.
she invited me to go to a halloween/birthday party with her.
during the drive to the party, i decided she was definitely worth spending time with...
even if it was at a high school party.

we became fast friends.
shoot, her entire family became friends!
beach trips, late nights, coffee dates.
lauren may be the only person i know who drinks as much coffee as i do.

even when lauren had troublesome circumstances, she made time for me.
whenever i was in the midst of heartache, lauren was there to love and listen.

“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing...not healing, not curing...that is a friend who cares."
{henri nouwen}

we've cried, laughed and celebrated together.
prepared meals, shared meals, gone shopping. together.
we've been angry together, and prayed together.

i even wanted her to date patrick-who's my husband now-but it just wasn't meant to be.
she married a great man, and so far has two adorable kiddos.
her sweet daughter will marry elijah, i mean, it could totally happen!

i miss lauren, many states separate us now.
{i miss our play dates-where we talk into the morning
while the husbands play call of duty.}

she's the sort of friend that everyone needs.
she's steady, encouraging, witty, thoughtful and honest.
lauren has never left my side.
she shines jesus brightly, for that i am grateful.

i love you, lauren! thanks for loving me, sister friend.
{if i was a better friend, i'd have photos of us-lauren, send me some!
also, please start a blog. thanks.}

"And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God."
{philippians 1:9-11}

    these are my favorite words, and best describe my closest friendships.
    "When I look at you it is as if I am in the presence of Christ... It is the Christ in you who recognizes the Christ in me...Yes, He indeed is in our midst.. and from now on, wherever you go, or I go, all the ground between us will be holy ground."
