some things

today we are resting.
well, in between cleaning up.
my little guy has the stomach flu.
right now, there is nothing more pitiful. or more gross.
the forced stillness and quietness that sickness brings, i like it.
a multitude of things are heavy on my heart right now.
next week, when i have time to articulate them, i will share!
today, i will just 'be'.
coloring, cuddling and christmas music are where it's at.

looks like thanksgiving printables that i posted last year are still available.
here and here.

speaking of printable, this simple thank you note is pretty cute.

speaking of thank you, what are you thankful for today?
i'm thankful for a washing machine. it is really a blessing in this sick house!
also i'm thankful for kindred spirits. today rachel posted my thoughts exactly. must read.

what a joy this has been!
so far i've only shared one day of our happy day project participation.
lord willing, i'll have a fun recap post next week!
it's been wonderful to be able to do activities from home.
although i wish elijah would hurry up and get better!

today's activity is to 'refresh someone'. with water.

this is how we chose to refresh someone:

shannan did an excellent series on 'letting go'.
she closed it out with a well building project.
click the pretty blue picture to donate! hooray for clean water!

i added a new page to the blog, did you notice?
click on 'give christmas', tell me your ideas!

one more thing,
have you entered the little giveaway?
i'll choose a winner on monday!
{p.s. look for another giveaway next week!}

happy weekend!

When across the heart deep waves of sorrow
Break, as on a dry and barren shore;
When hope glistens with no bright tomorrow,
And the storm seems sweeping evermore;

"When the cup of every earthly gladness
Bears no taste of the life-giving stream;
And high hopes, as though to mock our sadness,
Fade and die as in some fitful dream,

"Who shall hush the weary spirit's chiding?
Who the aching void within shall fill?
Who shall whisper of a peace abiding,
And each surging billow calmly still?

"Only He whose wounded heart was broken
With the bitter cross and thorny crown;
Whose dear love glad words of Joy had spoken,
Who His life for us laid meekly down.

"Blessed Healer, all our burdens lighten;
Give us peace, Thine own sweet peace, we pray!
Keep us near Thee till the morn shall brighten,
And all the mists and shadows flee away!
{streams in the desert}

  11. Oh, hope he gets better soon! Though I completely agree about the quietness and snuggles and just sitting watching cartoons being kinda nice when our little ones are sick. Every trial has a blessing with it, it seems!!

  17. That is always the worst of all of the kid illnesses. Nothing you can do except clean up and love. I love how you just want to "be".good for you. I pray the little guy is well today and the rest of your home has escaped it! Love to you.
