happy sunday

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise
.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood
.

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee
.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.
{Robert Robinson}

  1. I love this song. It reminds me of my wayward brother. Every time I hear it my spirit yearns within me to pray for him.

    I'm thankful that though he runs from God, God is still pursuing him.

  9. LOVE this song. And we have been singing it a lot lately at church, college group... on my radar. Even though I still don't know what a fetter is and I refuse to google it.

  10. Josh & I had this hymn sung at our wedding; one of our absolute favorites! The word "Ebenezer" has become a sort of motto of ours as we moved to a new state and Josh began med school. Ebenezer: "hitherto hath the Lord helped us." What encouragement we have found when looking back at God's blessings and remembering His past faithfulness. We have such peace knowing that He has led us here and will continue to be with us as we face future unknowns. Praise Jesus. :)
