sing to the lord

i will extol you, o lord,
for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
lord my god, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
lord, you have brought up my soul from sheol;
you restored me to life from among those
who go down to the pit.
sing praises to the lord, o you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
psalm 30:1-4esv

looks like a command to me.

sometimes, i just don't feel like singing.
i have found though, that if i just start singing to the lord, those praises make my heart change.
turning my spiritual coldness to warmth, grateful for the lord's work in my life.
i want to share these words with you, they encouraged me!

"are you despondent or discouraged?
if so, speak now to the lord who dwells
within your heart. say to him that
you know you have been redeemed.
acknowledge his presence and his character
as being more than worthy of praise.
ask him to kindle a song.
have it on your lips
even if you do not feel it in your heart.
ask him to give you a realization
of the truth of your singing,
for then praise will go to your heart
as you yield to your song of praise
to the lord."

  7. Holler! so true - how starting to praise can lift a spirit that didn't want to. It reminds me sometimes of going to church - there are times when my spirit is down and I really don't feel like going, but when I do, I am blessed always and so glad I went.

  18. Thanks for stopping by my blog via Denise. And for praying for our family. I hope that my health recovers to be able to adopt, too, one day.

Your family is adorable. And thanks for this reminder to sing even when we don't feel like it. I know it is so important. :)
