poking insecurity in the eye

lately, i've been fighting waves of insecurity.
primarily in my mothering skills, but sometimes other areas of my life as well.
i've also had some sweet, rich encouragement from friends and family. what a gift!
i am most thankful for christ and his word.
these are some scriptures that have held me up:

what then shall we say to these things?
if god is for us, who can be against us?
he who did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all,
how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
who shall bring any charge against god’s elect?
it is god who justifies. who is to condemn?
christ jesus is the one who died, more than that, who was raised,
who is at the right hand of god, who indeed is interceding for us.
romans 8:31-34 esv

for am i now seeking the approval of man, or of god?
or am i trying to please man?
if i were still trying to please man,
i would not be a servant of christ.
galatians 1:10 esv

the beloved of the lord dwells in safety.
the high god surrounds him all day long,
   and dwells between his shoulders.
deuteronomy 33:12esv

i waited patiently for the lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
he drew me up from the pit of destruction,
   out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
    making my steps secure.
he put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our god.
many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the lord.
psalm 40:1-3 esv

be encouraged today!
figure out what it is that is troubling you, and take it to the cross.
then lay. it. down.
dont give insecurity a home in your heart and mind.
hold fast to jesus and the truth of his word.
we are enough with him.

and this isn't bad advice;)

  26. Hi Hannah, newbie to your blog!

I just came from Jami's blog and left her a long comment about how I feel that I am being led to this amazing circle of encouraging women here on Blogger! In the last 24 hours, there have been so many coincidences that have occurred for a reason...of that, I am sure. And the funny thing is, in a few of the blogs I have commented in recently, your comment was right above mine, so I immediately recognized you from your cute little profile picture. And then I find Jami's blog today, and there you are, featured on her "We Encourage" post. :) How's that for synchronicity?

I am so excited to get to know you beautiful bloggers better; what a gift, to find, meet and connect with so many women who share in my love for the Lord!

    Aloha,
    Angie

  27. I too have been battling these unrealistic crazy little insecurities lately...I don't know how but they sneak their way into my life (I think the devil gave them a key) and just make me feel CRUMMY. It helps to know I'm not alone having these crazy insecurities...and it helps to have a fresh reminder that we have Jesus to lean on. I think I'm also going to take your last piece of advice and poke these nasty insecurities in they eye too! LOL. Lovin on your blog as usual!!

  28. 'don't give insecurity a home in your heart and mind' what a great perspective! If we think about it like that we should be less likely to give into those insecure thoughts because it's like they're a terrible, unwelcome, house guest that you just want to leave!

thanks for the sweet comment on my blog and for the follow!
