why is it that, too often my default is to despair when my life overwhelms me?
worse, it seems lately that the little things have me undone,
big things obviously go to jesus' feet.
whether it be big things or small things, he can do it all.
i seem to get that god is big and does big things.
I know that you can do all things;
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
there is just no question, what can't god do.
he can do.
do you get this yet?
i am working on it.
just the other day, i read this in part of a message by tony evans:
“we have problems with the power of god because we keep him in our environment. we try to limit him to what we know on earth, so we ‘just know’ that he can’t do this or that. but god lives in a realm far beyond us, and his power operates according to vastly different rules."
this is my problem, friends. i have placed god in a box. it's labeled "big things". i rarely run to him first with my small needs and desires. (and even sometimes forget to thank him for the small things!) i am so thankful for grace and his patience with me as i backtrack, repent and plead his help for my case. by his power, i can trust him and his might. he has it all under control and working for his purposes in my life.
i am so encouraged and thankful for the word, and friends and family who point me to it.
i want you to be encouraged as well.
pray this scripture with me, a prayer for spiritual strength:
"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
