on my heart

i haven't mentioned this on the blog much(at all?),
but we are struggling.
we moved to north dakota 18 months ago. in that time we have visited churches, even stayed awhile at a couple. we've been attending where we are now since last july. it truly is a blessing. the pastors, people, they really seem to love the lord and seek him. this church isn't "what we're used to" theologically speaking. truth? we love that about this place. we feel it is a need in our lives to be around those who are different than we are. it's refreshing!!
that being said, we just feel starved. although the word is preached, we are craving deeper than we are being lead on sundays. our hearts are aching for heavy duty word food.

as we seek the face of god about where else he may send us,
or if he will even take us to another church,
we've pondered the spirit.
we want to be where the holy spirit is wanting us to go,
or in this case, maybe stay. this season in our life is super tough.
ahh! i wish there was a font on here for complete angst :/
anyway, a favorite hip-hop record label (remember this video i posted from them?) recently feautured this video. this guy, cole brown, is saying what we're praying. lord, show us what to do.
show us where you are and where you want us.

  1. That's a tough one. We have been at the same church for almost 8 years. We have had our ups and downs but always remained. The Lord will show you where to go so you are somewhere that feels like home. I'll be praying friend. Muah ;)

  2. this makes me so sad. we are having a bit of a hard time with church too. glad i know, ill be praying friend. hugs ur way :)

  3. Praying for you! There is so much I could say (but this is your comment section after all), but we have struggled so much in the past year. We left a really spiritually abusive church, only to go to another church that had this huge tragedy, and now we are at a church, but feeling really disillusioned. I have the desire to seek God with passion and abandon, but I'm feeling tired and beat down. Does that make sense? In any sense, I'm so glad to have YOU as a blog friend, Hannah. You are such an encouragement!

  4. thanks for the prayers, friends! xo
    (casey, thanks for the linkup!)

  5. such an honest post. keep leaning into the lord, as you are doing. as long as you are obedient to Him, you are in the right place. :) and perhaps just for a season. :)

  6. Finding a church is tough. I always remember the scripture that describes the different parts of the body. You will find the right fit. God will use this time to teach and stretch you. Hugs, friend.

  7. I can relate to this post. We went from a "seminary church" while in seminary to a "surface teaching" church. We just moved so are at square one again. Anyway, we learned pretty fast that if we wanted something dipper we would have to step up to the plate and lead. I'm not sure if that's possible for you, but perhaps you two or the ones the Lord will use to do dig deeper. Don't be afraid to get involved and lead. I pray that your eyes will be open and answers would be solidified!

  8. my sis is struggling with the very same thing. (she lives in illinois.) i understand. how sad what some american churches have come too :( praying for you! ... might just link up too

  9. We were at this same place a few years ago. And Dave worked there which was so hard. But God was faithful and brought us through. I will be praying for you, dear friend!
