he is risen! {happy easter}

it was so much fun stuffing elijah's easter basket!!
we especially love the traditional easter stuffed animal:)
we dyed and decorated eggs...no photos, i was honestly terrified of my camera or phone
being near my son with dye. be assured it was a messy and delightful time!
he would've dyed a hundred if we'd had them!

as a kid, i loved this hymn at easter, but really any time. it is slow going until the chorus.
when that chorus came, boy howdy, we kiddos would shout. it. out. good times.
no surprise to many, i still sing this song the same way;)

Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
 {ROBERT LOWRY}
hallelujah, what a savior!!
so thankful for the work of christ on the cross.
he paid it all. for me. undeserving and wretched.
victorious over death and sin,
HE IS RISEN!

"Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. “And we apostles are witnesses of all he did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross, but God raised him to life on the third day. Then God allowed him to appear, not to the general public, but to us whom God had chosen in advance to be his witnesses. We were those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. And he ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all—the living and the dead. He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.”

  3. I was singing this! LOVE this song... I can remember the deep voices of the men in our small church choir singing in the background. I can remember the excitement when it came to sing loudly UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE! Gave me chills even as a little girl. Thank you for sharing.
