a preach-y post

this little photo, taken with my trusty phone,
serves as a button(over there>>>) for my other blog.
i post there mainly for myself. it's a journal of things
that hit me during a daily time with jesus.
i must be honest and tell you that i struggle
every single day to make the time.
in addition to a new weekly scripture memory plan(it's on my list!) ,
i ought to have a daily time with the lord.
my phone has a nifty bible reading plan on it,
i go back and forth with being behind and on track with that.
usually, i at least manage a daily mini dose from a favorite devotional. this is mostly possible because this book is in the bathroom. sadly, the bathroom is where i can get the most peace some days! (tmi much?)

EPHESIANS 5:1-2esv
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us,
a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

EPHESIANS 5:15-16esv
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

PHILIPPIANS 4:4-8esv
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in mepractice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

 JOHN 2:15-17esv
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

how can i mirror christ if i don't abide in him through his word?
how can i even know what all those words mean,
 how to apply them?
jesus wants more of me. he drew me to himself and paid my debts, i did nothing to earn it. although i could never thank him in a million years, i need to seek him daily, through prayer and his word. i know this.
to know HIM more, to be more like HIM.
to be a better wife, a better mother.
to be a better friend, a better neighbor.
to be a better sister, a better daughter.
i must do more than just say "hey, jesus, what's up?".
so, may i be more thirsty, more gracious.
more humble, more patient.
more teachable, more grateful.
more giving, more selfless.
more diligent, more quiet

lord, make me want
less of me and more YOU.

  1. I feel ya with the whole bathroom thing.
But seriously, amazing and honest post. I too struggle with spending time with the Lord everyday. It's hard but I know it's something that needs to be done. I'll be praying for you as you seek the Lord more. :)
