thankful on paper {week one}

{click here or here to read about "thankful on paper"!}

yesterday i mailed a note to a sweet praying friend. i wrote to thank her for many years of prayer and friendship. melanie schrodt has prayed for me even before she'd met me, amazing i know! before i was saved by grace, melanie had heard about me, my life and its detrimental direction.
i really believe her very prayers were instrumental to my conversion to faith in christ!
melanie suffered a stroke shortly after she'd heard of me. it really took a toll on her physically. she was still praying for me! her mind was alive, even though she couldn't speak or write. over the years she's gained much ability back, and has written me many lovely notes! what a treat to get a note from melanie! when i lived in maryland, i so cherished my friendship with melanie. many times we'd head to the lighthouse diner(a favorite of hers) or to one of our kitchens, for lunch and a long chat. we'd chat and laugh and have a grand time! she's a fantastic listener and always has the wisest advice. she's almost as stubborn as i am, we laugh at the same things, we cry over the same things...i'm so thankful that she was my friend before i knew her and my friend now. what a blessing she's been!
melanie, i love you!

  3. I can't wait to mail one to my friend she will NOT expect it at all, since in Sept. I wrote a tribute to her for her birthday... She is going to get a double whammy!

  4. Wow! Just goes to show how good God is, and how we can be totally unaware of Him working. What a great friend!
